The Waterfall Passport

Six waterfalls, four ways to reach them, one page to stamp as you go. From a view straight out of the parking lot to a real river hike with eighteen creek crossings — pick your effort level and start collecting.

Center Hill Lake doesn't have one great waterfall. It has a whole collection — and every one of them fits a different kind of day.

We've already written the long version of this story four times over on Tony's Guide: the falls you can see without leaving the car, the ones that ask for a short walk, the one that asks for a real hike, and the hidden ones worth the extra twenty minutes of driving. This passport is the short version — a page to stamp as you actually visit them, with a link back to the full guide for directions, parking, and conditions on each one.

Tap a waterfall once you've stood in front of it. Collect all six, and the passport at the bottom fills in with your name on it.

The Parking-Lot Falls

Zero hiking, zero excuses. Both of these are visible before you've finished unbuckling a car seat — the easiest wins in the whole passport, and the best place to start with very young kids or anyone using mobility aids.

Tip

Twin Falls and Great Falls sit in different parts of Rock Island State Park — the Powerhouse Road lot gets you to Twin Falls, while the main park entrance leads to Great Falls. Follow the signage carefully; don't assume one parking area covers both.

A Short Walk, A Big Payoff

A few minutes on foot for a much bigger reward. Both of these are comfortable for most kids and most knees, and both have a genuine "wow" waiting at the end.

Tip

Lost Creek Falls is the passport's best "grand finale" — save it for a day when the kids need a payoff worth the short climb back up the stairs. It's usually uncrowded even on busy weekends.

The Real Hike

One stamp, earned the hard way. This is the passport's badge of honor — bring real shoes and expect to get your feet wet.

Tip

This route is genuinely weather-dependent — creek levels rise fast after rain and the park may close the trail. Check conditions before you go, and plan to return via the service road rather than re-crossing the creek.

The Hidden One

Worth the extra drive and the extra mile on foot — the falls most visitors to Center Hill Lake never hear about.

Tip

Carmac Falls is best suited to kids old enough for a full one-mile walk each way. Booking the Day-Tripper pass in advance turns the visit into a full, unhurried afternoon rather than a quick stop.
